I have a wonderful little house out in the suburbs where life is peaceful and fairly slow paced. I grew up in the city and after a while, one tends to get burned out from the relentless pace and intensity of everyday life, so for me this is has been a pleasant change that I have made the most of. I even built an in-ground pool in the backyard so I can lounge around after work enjoying a nice relaxing drink as I wade in the water. That was, until recently when the new neighbors moved in. Now my whole backyard stinks like marijuana and I can’t even enjoy my pool anymore because of the smell. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with someone smoking cannabis, but I have never cared for the smell and it is the last thing I want to smell after a long day in the office. Finally, after a week of this going on every day, I had enough and went next door to scream at them. That is when I met my neighbor Bob. Bob is in a wheelchair and suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. Bob also smokes medical cannabis to help mitigate pain associated with the disease. I felt terrible even though I didn’t say one crossword. We talked about it and he said he would look into getting an air purifier to clean up the cannabis odor as much as it could. I thanked him kindly and went home to ponder how much harder life could actually be.
