A few months ago I took a job with a new law firm that required a lot of travel from where I was living, so I made the decision to relocate closer to my new employer. It was time for a change of scenery anyway and I am glad I made the move, but there is one peculiarity concerning my new neighbor. His entire house reeks of marijuana. It’s really quite striking that the odor seems to permeate the very walls and yard of his house and spread outward like an invisible cloud of weed. After about a week of this unending assault of reefer madness, I decided to confront my neighbor about it. I’m not against someone doing what they want to as long as they aren’t hurting others, but I did want to let him know that it was a bit overwhelming. I went over and met my neighbor whose name is John, and lo and behold, John suffers from multiple sclerosis and smokes medical cannabis to help with the pain that comes from muscle spasms associated with his disease. I was shocked to find this out because I was so sure he was just a stoner who likes his marijuana far too much. I apologized profusely, but before I left I did ask if there was any way he could tone down the overpowering aroma that surrounded his home and half my yard. Now it was his turn to apologize and he started talking about these air purifiers he had just ordered to help mitigate the problem. Apparently, it was bothering him too.
