The medical cannabis helped me

I used to be against legalizing marijuana; I figured that the people who were for it just wanted to get high all of the time. I thought they wanted to smoke joints in public, stink up steakhouses, and influence our children. I am not a smoker, nor have I ever been a smoker. Honestly, I was against pot at first because of the recreational use. I figure if you smoke enough marijuana, you have no brain cells left, you can’t talk as well, you can’t remember anything, and you can’t function in society very well. Anyway, that is what I was against, but I recently had an associate named Brian who talked to us about marijuana. Brian firmly believes in legalizing pot for medical purposes, and after he talked to us for a while, he convinced me that legalization is not a bad thing. In the beginning I was picturing a bunch of people smoking joints whenever they want – I even thought that the medical marijuana patients smoked joints. Turns out that is absolutely not true. Most medical marijuana patients actually use oils or edibles in order to medicate themselves, but the medical marijuana patients are not trying to get high! Most of the patients take medical marijuana without that ingredient at all, since you can suppress the mind-altering stuff. The patients only get the medicine that they need from the plant – nothing else. Cancer patients use it to stop nausea and increases appetite. Epilepsy patients take marijuana to help with seizures. How can I be reasonable and be against that? Sure, marijuana used excessively is bad, but anything is! Now that I’ve thought about it, I am totally for legalizing marijuana all the way.
